The Sneaky Long Project

The Sneaky Long Project

Do you play Golf?

Would you like to Drive the ball further off the tee?

Become “Sneaky Long” with the Driver?

Is it possible to increase your club head speed with Driver?

Andy Larmour has worked with elite golfers since 2004 – including players on Ryder & Solheim Cups, PGA, LPGA and WP World Tours, England Golf and with the High Performance golfers at the University of Exeter for more than 20 years.

He lectures on the biomechanics of the Golf swing on the University of Exeter Sport & Exercise Medicine Masters degree.

Over the years, he has designed and tested a unique combination of physical tests. These tests can accurately predict club head speed potential, and more importantly once developed they can significantly improve club head speed.

It is estimated that a 1mph increase in club head speed, translates to roughly 2.5 extra yards of carry with the Driver.

Modern testing equipment has made testing of the body and club head speed substantially more accurate and repeatable.

Andy can talk the talk, but can he walk the walk?

A few months after returning to playing golf, Andy did some tests on himself. To be honest, the results were distinctly average. Despite investing in new equipment, his club head speed and distance with the Driver were pretty poor.

Could a couple of months of Golf Specific Training, (which did not involve going to a gym) make any difference to a non-elite 49 year old golfer?

Results below.

Substantial changes to average Driver carry and total distance, and club head speed.

If Andy can do it, anyone can do it.

If you want to drive the ball further – there are significant factors that are known to contribute to Driver distance.

1: Equipment – modern Drivers and golf balls go further. If your Driver is more than 10 years old – this could be relevant.

2: Golf Swing Mechanics – warning – if you hit a weak slice now, increasing your club head speed could easy lead to a ‘power slice’, and no one needs that. All elite players have regular lessons. Every local club has excellent Golf Pros, who can help to fix your mechanics in next to no time. Understanding your golf club path and club face position at impact are important, and can be improved. If you understand why your golf ball does what it does, you can improve it.

3: Your BODY – there are fundamental movements that your body needs to be able to do, in order to generate extra club head speed consistently. These can be accurately tested and improved. It’s all in the numbers.

This is The Sneaky Long Project

Your own personal project to improve your Driver distance.

Any Golfer – at any age, and any ability has the potential to improve.

They just need to know what to work on.

It does not need to involve a gym. Just some accurate information and some consistency.

The Sneaky Long Project is NOT available online, it involves face to face testing. Places are strictly limited.

The Process

1: Register interest – email andy@oceanphysio.com

2: Test your current Driver distance (carry & total) and club head speed – using an accurate launch monitor. Use 10 drives (must be in bounds) on a 40 yard wide fairway. Take as many as you need to get 10 in bounds (max 20 yards either side of target line.) Record average and maximum. Any questions – we can help.

3: Complete Pre-testing Questionnaire

4: Book initial Physical testing – group testing dates available throughout the year. Individual testing available on request.

5: Receive Golf Specific Training regime – tailored to your needs after Physical testing.

6: Complete 6 – 8 weeks of Golf Specific Training

7: Book final Physical testing – group testing dates available throughout the year. Individual testing available on request.

8: Test new Driver distance (carry & total) and club head speed – using the same accurate launch monitor.
